Scott Beasley

"I love to help start churches because it is the best way to evangelize the lost and assimilate them into the local body of Christ!  After starting a thriving church on the western side of Atlanta, Georgia, Lisa and I are thrilled to be starting another one on the northern side of the city!.  As much as we love planting churches in the US, our hearts leap to be involved with the same ministry overseas.  Every believer should be involved planting churches!  I count it a privilege to be a small part of World-Wide Church Planters by helping with their training conferences."

(Scott is a Staff Evangelist at 1st Baptist Church, Woodstock, GA.  For more information go to www. scottbeasley.org)

Lyle Seltman

"I have worked with WWCP to train church planters around the world. What a blessing this has been for me! I have seen many ordinary people inspired by God to take on their neighborhoods, their villages or cities, and yes – even their nations for Christ. What has been the result? Many, many people have received Christ, many churches have begun, and last, but not least, God has done a work in my life. I thank God and WWCP for the opportunities given me."

(Lyle has served as a church planter, Director of Missions of the Michigan Baptist Convention, business executive, and as a pastor of numerous churches.)

The WWCP project begins with our Church Planters Training School.  We believe that the most critical part of the project is to leave behind new churches where believers can learn about their new-found faith and become salt and light, sharing their faith with the culture in which they live.

We send in a church planter trainer to the area where the new churches will be started.  This trainer must have started or have been closely involved with the starting of at least one new church.  The trainer could be a missionary, a pastor, or a layman.  In a very intensive 4-6 day school, he teaches three subjects:

  • Personal Evangelism

Each new church planter will be taught the basics of sharing their faith.  In addition, the teacher takes the potential church planters out to do direct, personal evangelism.  Taking the church planters on the streets to do evangelism helps them to overcome the fear barrier associated with witnessing.  They learn to share Christ by doing it.

  • Spiritual Formation

Critical to the success of the church planters is an understanding of how to walk with Christ on a daily basis.  In this class, we teach them the basics of prayer and Bible study.  Our goal is to help the church planter discover the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the joy of doing God's will.

  • Church Planting

Our church planter trainers have had experience in planting new churches.  They will pass on to each student the basic "nuts and bolts" of starting a new church, how it is structured, various models of church planting, and what the church is called to do in its     culture.

Our Church Planter Trainers act as both teachers and mentors to the new church planters.  They encourage and guide them from their years of experience in church planting and walking with Christ.

After the completion of our school, the evangelsim team immediately (from a church like yours) comes in to work with each church planter in their geographic area of their calling.  We hope you, your church, or your association will join us on one of these teams, sharing Christ house-to-house, on the streets, and any place where the Lord opens a door.
